In celebration of its exceptional horological expertise, Van Cleef & Arpels will present the 'Poetry of Time' exhibition at a dedicated space in Central Ferry Pier 4, Hong Kong, from January 24 to February 8, 2026. The exhibition transforms the flow of time into captivating poetic scenes, offering a meticulously crafted journey of discovery. Each chapter unfolds gradually, revealing the maison's secrets in mechanical watchmaking and grand craftsmanship (métiers d’Art), showcasing its unique poetic vision of time. The exhibition traces the maison's longstanding history, iconic sources of inspiration, and exquisite craftsmanship, infusing dream and emotion into the art of horology. Every creation blends unique poetry and fantasy, turning the measurement of time into an invitation to an enchanting realm.
The exhibition features iconic pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels' 'Poetic Complications' watch collection, 'Extraordinary Dials' series, and 'Extraordinary Objects' collection. Additionally, a selection of jewelry creations that tell the time will be unveiled in Hong Kong for the first time.
Through immersive settings, 'Poetry of Time' narrates the maison's legacy in an unprecedented manner. The story begins in Paris in 1895, when Esther (also known as Estelle) Arpels married Alfred Van Cleef, leading to the establishment of the maison in Place Vendôme in 1906. Since then, the union of the two family names has created a remarkable heritage, with each creation rooted in love and crafted with exceptional savoir-faire.
Upon entering the exhibition, visitors will first encounter a selection of pieces from the maison's Patrimony collection, followed by a stunning display of exceptional craftsmanship in the next room. The exhibition features three watchmaking ateliers, showcasing the extraordinary skills of master artisans – expert watchmakers, craftsmen, jewel setters, and automaton specialists. In addition to exploring professional watchmaking techniques, the exhibition intricately interprets the maison's cherished sources of inspiration: love stories, poetic astronomy, enchanting nature, ballerinas and fairies, and jewelry that tells the time. Each inspirational realm immerses visitors in a dreamlike atmosphere, with every exhibit exuding Van Cleef & Arpels' unique artistic flair and elegant style. One of the exhibition highlights is the 'Planétarium Automaton', which was presented at the 'Watches & Wonders' salon in Switzerland in 2025 and will make its debut in Hong Kong during this exhibition.
The final section of the exhibition draws inspiration from the 'Lady Arpels Bal des Amoureux Automate' watch, transforming the space into an immersive Parisian outdoor café that evokes a romantic French ambiance. Here, visitors can participate in specially curated activities and experiences to delve deeper into the creative universe of Van Cleef & Arpels, including a children's handicraft workshop and a talk hosted by L’ÉCOLE School of Jewelry Arts.
